As the summer comes to a end and a new school year approaches, we can look back on the first summer we’ve had since 2020! To kick things off, giving us a taste off what summer had to offer was St.Patrick’s day. On the 17th of March we had the first St.Patrick’s day parade since 2020! Festivities were bigger and better with a hugely successful parade in Killarney and an outdoor cinema in Killarney House and Gardens.
Then came the rally of the lakes on the 29th of April to give April an exciting and dramatic finish! Finishing up on the 1st of May with Callum Devine coming out victorious.
Birds Euroshow Funfair kicked off June with a bang. Birds’ 85th year in Killarney was a huge success. Birds drew huge crowds of people to Killarney with their huge rides and great amusements.
On the 24th of July the All Ireland Football Final was held. Kerry coming out on top led to great celebrations all over the Kingdom.Kerry beating Dublin had a peak of 1.09 million fans watching worldwide. The celebrations are still in full swing with homecomings being held in local clubs to honour our heroes.
Annually Puck fair is a major highlight of peoples summers. King Puck the goat that stands looking down on everybody had to be taken down due to the unbelievable heat! Puck fair is an Ancient fair that can be traced back to 1613!
Throughout the summer we had several heatwaves making the beach a great place to go to. Temperatures reached over a sweltering 30 degrees!
To finish summer we have The Rose Of Tralee. The Rose Of Tralee has been on in Kerry for over 60 years. After a 2 year wait its back in full swing.
